During every maintenance, MOT and winter or summer check, check the lights, wiper blades and other wear parts. It seems so simple. Often it is even a brand guideline. But does it happen? Our tests show that a cracked
wiper blade is not noticed in 26% of cases. This means inconvenience for the customer – and less turnover for you.
It looks silly when a customer has to come back a week after a service for a new set of wiper blades. “Shouldn’t they have checked that during the service?” the customer rightly asks. A hassle for the customer, because he has to go to the workshop again. And not a good service for you, because once customers doubt your accuracy of work…
A set of wiper blades is available everywhere these days – and for a fraction of the price charged by the dealer. If the customer buys a set at Action and installs it themselves, you will lose the turnover. The calculation is simple. Take the number of runs per year, multiply it by the profit you make on a set of blades and take 26% of that. Calculate your (lost) profit!
Of course, not every customer has defective wiper blades. And perhaps you don't miss 26% of the cases (after all, you're not average), but 5%. Or 10%. But do the math. You'll be shocked! There's only one way to find out how much profit you're missing: measuring. Swicon can help you by mapping out exactly what your areas for improvement are. Want to know more?
